I found my first Mermaid's Purse!

I found loads actually, and I had seen them before but thought they were bits of mobile phones or other plastic.

So I looked it up online and found this site, https://marinedimensions.ie/what-is-a-mermaid-purse/ and I reported my finds and had a response as below:
I can see from your photos that you found 2 eggcases from the Thornback Ray (Raja clavata), .......... and 2 Spotted Ray eggcases (Raja montagui).

The Spotted Ray cases are the ones that are smooth along the sides, and the Thornbacks have a thin layer along the sides.

The site gives you links to report your finds, depending on country etc. So come on, let's see if you can find Greek, or Australian ones, Sasha, you will have to make a special beach trip, sorry.

We've always been ahead of our time - (when we weren't behind of course, changing things for the better)

And yet again just as I told you! (see below)

New Findings on Santorini Point to “Lost Island of Atlantis” Origins

Saturday, May 22

Our latest adventures!

Believe it or not, this book, chronicling our adventures, is a  definitive account of Atlantis, wrapped up in a tale of discovery, friendship, adventure, time-travel, fantasy and faraway places in space and time, past and present.

We would love you to join us, meeting Natalya from Return of the Stone properly, reading about our journeys in time, on Kindle or in a paperback.  This is the last in The Stone Summons series, or trilogy, as it turned out to be.

Here's mine - all one stone!

Read about the face recognition thing in a book I was reading on advertising (I'm doing Sociology!)

Sorry about the sand.  I didn't realise we were photographing them in situ.  When you two didn't mention it, I forgot, and he was just amongst my other souvenirs, then I had to find some sand to take his photograph, so you would think it was Malaysia, but I can see you can tell the difference, sorry. L

Think he looks like a pig here

Quite different this way up and round

And here like a puppy

And this is mine!

 With his cap on!

παρα εἴδωλον - could I just say, from the Greek, naturally!

Monday, August 17

How odd!

I just read about that facial recognition thing in the paper, it was a report on a UNSW study (Alright, University of New South Wales!)  Is that where you got it from?

Anyway, here's my Malaysia effort.

Saturday, August 15

Did you know........

..... seeing face in inanimate objects is known as 'face pareidolia'?

I have several recent beachcombing examples.  After our struggle to find them in Malaysia (what happened to the competition Alex?) I seem to see them almost every step I take.  (See, another example of the benefits of a pebble beach!)

Here are a few:

Elephant

Badger

Dog
